When Venus or Mars is in Aries, sex is best when it's spontaneous and unrestricted. These people melt when their partner gives themselves to them innocently and purely. Some of them look for trouble in love, and are addicted to the conquest. Their heads are erogenous zones—they love it when you mess up their hair and grab their face when they are making love. They can be rather selfish in bed, and quick. They can get impatient with too much foreplay, preferring to get right to the point. Sometimes aggressive, and generally fast, these lovers are sincere and enthusiastic in their sexual expression, but not always constant. Their desires are powerful indeed. When Venus or Mars is in Taurus, the sexual nature involves all of the senses. Touch and smell are supremely important to these lovers. These are the most physical of sexual partners. To you, an intellectual conversation may interrupt lovemaking, but to them, it's just extended foreplay. They are turned on by slave scenarios, and they may like it when you're a little mean and aggressive in bed, as long as they know you love them. When Venus or Mars is in Leo, the fantasies often revolve around devotion and attention. These people are most turned on when their partner thinks they are gods or goddesses. While some want a mate they can show off, many prefer not to have two stars in the same household. They can be quite possessive and jealous, although they'll often try to hide this fact. When Venus or Mars is in Virgo, there is generally a healthy attitude towards sex. Sex to them is a bodily function, necessary for health and general well-being. Everyday stresses and tensions are released in sex, whether it's with others or with themselves. They are turned on by people who have largely gone unnoticed. Simple and sweet is the way they like their bed partners. They also get turned on by the idea that they are your slave. Others express their need for control by being unavailable and abstaining for long periods of time, giving in only when they feel their partner is deserving. Their fantasies often involve getting caught having sex, and they are attracted to people who are a little offbeat or odd.  

When Venus or Mars is in Pisces, a subtle approach to flirting and sex is taken on. These lovers are generally open to all of the avenues of sexual expression, especially the nooks and crannies. They are forgiving and bending, and they are generally willing to please. At times romantic and gooey, these lovers are actually a bit like chameleons. It's hard to pin them down to any one style. They may talk a lot one evening, and be withdrawn the next. In general, they prefer non-verbal expressions of love and are attracted to imbalance. Self-sacrifice, compassion, and even religion can be mixed into their sexual expression. They're very sensitive, but will almost always forgive you. They'll even let you go if you so desire, and love you forever anyways. Although they can be shy and yielding, their lovers can sometimes find them maddeningly detached and spaced. Earth, Fire, Air, and Water, romantic compatibilities?

For many, many years, physical reality was described with the four elements of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. The Characteristics of the twelve zodiac signs can be understood in terms of those elements also.

All signs have corresponding elements that help form our Characteristics and our astrological make up. Everyone has some characteristic from each element, however, there is usually an emphasis on one element more than the other. As a general Guide, these can determine which signs would best compliment each other in relationships, and which should be avoided at all cost!

The Balance between two Elements is the most important when assessing their romantic compatibility.

The Earth signs - Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo are mainly expressions of energy which is practical, physical and rooted in reality. The energy of Taurus especially is focused on a direct sensory experience of the physical world. We describe people who have a Taurus emphasis in their chart as being very "Down to earth".

Because of their physical structure, Earth is also limiting and constricting. Those with planets in Earth signs tend to be a little conservative, and are happiest when they deal with a situation that they are familiar with. 

The Air signs are linked to logic and thinking. People with an emphasis on one or more of the air signs, Libra, Gemini, and Aquarius are primarily thinkers. Although they are not necessarily emotionally cold people, their relationship with others tends to be based more on thought and ideas than on pure emotions. This is especially true of Gemini and Aquarius, and less so of Libra.

Air signs have an excellent combination of logical thinking, tied to practical reality. They are not as hide-bound by tradition as Earth signs, nor are they as unreal as Water signs. A person with a strong element of Air in their chart will be creative, and will be able to put their creativity into practice. 

The Fire signs represents positive, outgoing energy. People with an emphasis on one of the Fire signs - Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - work well under their own steam. They push on ahead to get what they want, and are less than sympathetic to anyone who gets in their way.

Fire people have a dramatic quality that helps to energize the people around them. They are warm-hearted, but sometimes lack the sensitivity to understand other people's feeling. While they have the positive energy to cheer up their friends when they are depressed, in practice they find it quite difficult to deal with negativity in others, and consequently may be less helpful in practice. 

The Water signs are Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio. People with a large number of planets in these signs are typically very intuitive, and are especially good at sensing others thoughts and feelings. Pisces in particular are likely to empathize so well with other people that they sometimes find it difficult to hold their own ground.

Like Air, Water represents thinking. However, whereas with Air, there is an emphasis on logical, left-brained type thinking. In addition, Water signs are typically subjective, rather than objective, and excel in the visual arts rather than in Science. 

Love Horoscope : October 2011

ARIES
After some powerful forces on the relationship front came to a head in the closing days of September, you're able to move into October with everything out in the open, a much clearer sense of where things stand and if you were going to have any problems or challenges, to have experienced them by now. On one hand this gives you a clear sense that what you see is what you get, but on the other something seems to have changed in the final hours of September. It was on the 30th September that Venus, planet of love aligned with and overtook Saturn in your relationship sector, with your heart, love and your relationship desires leading you into the new month. It will stay that way until Venus leaves your relationship sector on the 9th October, with Mercury working until the 13th October to ensure that the communication lines remain open and the Sun working until the 24th October to give you as much clarity, insight, objectivity and authenticity as possible. From the 24th October Saturn will be back on his own and it will stay that way until July 2012, giving your relationships a powerful push start. On the romantic front things are a lot more consistent with Mars, planet of passion and the warrior planet of the cosmos in your romantic sector for the whole of October. Not leaving until the 11th November Mars is on a mission to evoke your romantic passions and inspire you to fight for love.


TAURUS
While you begin the month with no planetary activity in either your romantic or relationship sectors, this gives you a chance to catch your breath and get your bearings. Mercury, planet of communication only left your romantic sector late last month and with Mars, planet of passion returning next month, this gives you the whole of October to step back and put things into perspective, before some of the most romantically passionate months in decades kick off, on the 11th November. While your romantic situation and needs have received a lot of cosmic attention over recent months with the Sun, Mercury and Venus all having moved through and in Mercury's case twice, your relationships have been neglected, as is usually the case at this time of year. Venus, planet of love changes all that with her return to your relationship sector on the 9th October. This is almost 9 months to the day since the planet of love left your relationship sector on the 8th January and as the last planet to leave and the next to arrive, she'll have no trouble picking up from where she left off. While Mercury will return to your relationship sector on the 13th October to help open up the communication lines and the Sun on the 24th October, to give your relationships a lot more clarity, objectivity and authenticity, it's the planet of love that sets the tone. A New Moon in your relationship sector on the 27th October creates a chance for new beginnings or a fresh start.


GEMINI
As you move into the new month you're on the other side of some of the most powerful romantic days on record, with a New Moon in your romantic sector in the closing days of September and some powerful alignments on the 30th September creating a real tailwind. Until now this has been Saturn's game, getting you to take responsibility for your love life, for your romantic needs and for keeping things real. Saturn belongs to the school of thought that is all about refusing to take short cuts, dealing with consequences and that things take as long as they take. During her alignment with Saturn on the 30th September Venus, planet of love took the lead, with the 1st October her first full day as the lead planet. This means that as you move into October you're now playing by Venus' rules, which means it's all about what you want, refusing to wait and if there are short cuts to take, then she'll find them for you. Due to leave your romantic sector on the 9th October this creates a new sense of romantic urgency, especially as by this point you've learned the hard way what you do and don't want from love. This is creating some very strong romantic desires and expectations and the determination to walk the talk and with back up from Mercury, here until the 13th October and the Sun, here until the 24th October, a chance to draw a line in the sand and start the way you intend to go on. What is set in motion this month has another 12 months to play out.


CANCER
While you moved into 2011 with Venus, planet of love in your romantic sector, setting the year off with the right romantic desires, expectations and intentions, since she left on the 8th January you've been experiencing a romantic drought. With Pluto, planet of change and revolution in your relationship sector this is where your focus has been and in retrograde motion since early April, you'd become trapped in the past, held hostage by old ghosts. Things began to shift mid September, when Pluto turned direct in your relationship sector and already there are small signs that your relationships are starting to move on, however you'll have to wait until later next month before things come up to full speed and reach a tipping point. Meanwhile the romantic drought continues, though as you move into the new month there is a sense that this won't be the case for long. You move into October with the Moon in your romantic sector, having arrived on 29th September, stirring your romantic imagination and sentiments and leaving behind a message, when he leaves on the 1st October, of 'watch this space'. For it's on the 9th October, just 8 days after the Moon leaves that Venus, planet of love returns to your romantic sector, finally breaking the romantic drought. Mercury's arrival on the 13th October, the Sun's on the 24th October and a New Moon on 27th October, will see an unfolding of the most romantic weeks of 2011.


LEO
On both the romantic and relationship fronts there aren't too many changes this month, but there is a growing sense that this won't be the case for long. You have had Neptune, planet of dreams and fantasies back in your relationship sector since the 5th August and in retrograde motion all that time, this is giving you a chance to take a trip down memory lane and rekindle something lost or missing and to reconnect with old dreams and fantasies. This hasn't been a cakewalk for Neptune, with some real pressures, obstacles and roadblocks on the way that have provided the right wake up calls, ensuring that you weren't asleep at the wheel, glossing over the past or sticking your head in the sand. Due to turn direct on the 10th November, this is Neptune's last full month in retrograde motion in your relationship sector, not just for now but in your lifetime, with a need to make the most of the old doors still open and the second chances on offer. Meanwhile, you're playing a waiting game on the romantic front, with the North Node's position in your romantic sector keeping your focus on the future, but in a way that might at times feel like you're window shopping. But with Venus, planet of love due to return to your romantic sector on the 2nd November and Mercury, planet of communication on the 3rd November, as the month progresses a sense of anticipation is only going to grow stronger as you count down to the most romantic months of 2011 and some big surprises ahead.


VIRGO
Conditions on the romantic and relationship fronts couldn't be more different this month, with a need to see these as different games, though interconnected. On the romantic front Pluto, planet of change and revolution is spending his first full month in direct motion, having ended his 5 ½ month retrograde phase mid September. As the slowest planet in the solar system, even this impulsive revolutionary is willing to bide his time as he slowly comes back up to speed. Not normally a very patient energy, Pluto knows that until Venus returns to your romantic sector on the 27th November things won't really start to move. While your romantic focus is on the future and on future possibilities, there is a sense that you have time on your side and that it's more about daring to believe in what's possible, silently preparing for the revolution or the rebellion ahead. On the relationship front Chiron, planet of healing is spending his last full month in retrograde motion, before turning direct on the 11th November. If last month's Full Moon in your relationship sector did its job it's likely to have brought a lot of things to a head, pushed a lot of old buttons and got a lot of things out in the open, with a lot of old baggage on the table. Chiron has just 1 full month to deal with this, with the focus this month, when it comes to your relationships, not only on the past but on finding resolution and closure, while laying old ghosts to rest.


LIBRA
The conditions in the later days of September have turned you into a bit of a romantic warrior, moving into the new month determined to get what you want from love, with your heart emerging victorious. It has been a fairly rough ride for Venus, planet of love since she returned to your sign on the 15th September, not only enduring an opposition with Uranus in your relationship sector, but taking on Saturn in a bid for control. Since returning to your sign and kicking off your Venus return and brand new Venus cycle, the planet of love has been working in Saturn's shadow, with more serious agendas taking precedence. But on the 30th September Venus aligned with and overtook Saturn, with the 1st October her first full day as the lead planet in your sign. This will see you move into the new month with your heart and your romantic needs and expectations taking their power back, ready to claim what's possible moving forward. With Neptune in retrograde motion in your romantic sector and Uranus in retrograde motion in your relationship sector there is a lot of focus on the past still, with a lot of old doors still open, but as far as your heart is concerned it's time to move on. Venus leaves your sign on the 9th October, wrapping up your Venus return and it's by then that you need to have your romantic intentions for the coming year nailed. A Full Moon in your relationship sector on the 12th October is likely to bring things on the relationship front to a head or to a tipping or turning point.


SCORPIO

Having Chiron, planet of healing in retrograde motion in your romantic sector and Jupiter, planet of luck and expansion in retrograde motion in your relationship sector is putting a lot of focus on the past, with the doors open to second chances on the relationship front and for some real healing on the romantic front and when it comes to wounds your heart has suffered. But what took this to a whole new level was Venus, planet of love's return to a nostalgic part of your chart on the 15th September, with every aspect of your personal life caught in a nostalgic web. You're not going to shake this until Venus, planet of love returns to your sign on the 9th October, kicking off your Venus return and a brand new Venus cycle. While your heart will become a lot more focused on the future, with Jupiter in retrograde motion in your relationship sector until the 26th December and Chiron in retrograde motion in your romantic sector until the 11th November, as new doors open it won't be so that old doors can close. This means that you'll move into your new Venus cycle with new and old doors open, with both new opportunities and second chances on offer. This is the first time you've begun a new Venus cycle with Jupiter in your relationship sector in over a decade, but it's been 5 decades since you've begun a new Venus cycle with Chiron in your romantic sector, making it important to slow down and soak in the implications. This bodes well for the future on both the romantic and relationship fronts.


SAGITTARIUS

On both the romantic and relationship fronts it's no longer about the short term, as you start to realise and appreciate that there are some very deep and fundamental changes taking place. It was the South Node's return to your relationship sector in March, that as well as setting the scene for some potentially game changing eclipses, began the process of redefining your relationship bottom lines, closing old doors and resolving the past. This is in preparation for the huge relationship opportunities in 2012, that are probably some of the best and most auspicious you've ever encountered. While the Sun, Venus, Mercury and Mars all passed through your relationship sector in the middle months of the year, it's now more about tying up loose ends, laying old ghosts to rest and making peace with where you've been, making room for next year's huge relationship opportunities. On the romantic front Uranus, planet of surprise and synchronicity is spending his third full month in retrograde motion, having turned retrograde on the 10th July and staying in retrograde motion until the 10th December. Working behind the scenes and here until March 2019, Uranus is opening the door to the kind of second chances that will find you, rather than the other way round. It's a Full Moon in your romantic sector on the 12th October that is likely to see the laws of synchronicity in effect. By then Venus, planet of love will be in a more nostalgic part of your chart, for she'll begin winding down your current Venus cycle on the 9th October, ready for a Venus return on the 2nd November.


CAPRICORN
When Mars, planet of passion left your relationship sector on the 19th September he not only wrapped up his last visit for another 2 years, he wrapped up all the planetary activity for the year. Your relationship sector had been active since mid June, with October your first month since May when your relationships aren't receiving planetary attention and therefore aren't a major area of focus. Yet from the 17th June to the 19th September the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars all moved through, with everything now on the table and the stars having already contributed all that you need in order to keep things on track. The Moon's visit to your relationship sector from the 18th to the 20th October will give you a chance to get your bearings and check that you really are on track and if not, will nudge things back into line. With your relationships no longer such a big focus this allows you to pay a lot more attention to your romantic situation, where with Jupiter in retrograde motion in your romantic sector the doors to second chances are now wide open. Jupiter turned retrograde in late August and with his first full month in retrograde motion under your belt and a much better feel for the dynamics in play, you're able to make the most of the second chances this has opened the door to. With Jupiter not turning direct until the 26th December there is zero urgency, however the Moon's visit to your romantic sector from the 13th to the 16th October will give you a chance to get your bearings, especially when he aligns with Jupiter on the 14th October. Venus, planet of love will move into opposition with Jupiter on the 15th October, making sure that you're not asleep at the wheel or that you don't have your head in the sand.


AQUARIUS
As you move into the new month Venus, planet of love has only just come out of an alignment with Saturn on the 30th September, with the 1st October her first full day as the lead planet in an adventurous part of your chart. With the tailwind from a New Moon at her back and the resilience and determination gained from her alignment with Saturn, Venus is ready to challenge your excuses as she urges you to see love as a journey. As well as evoking a desire for more romantic adventure, until she leaves on the 9th October Venus will be challenging your excuses, especially when it comes to what you've told yourself is and isn't possible. This comes in a month where Mars, planet of passion and the warrior planet of the cosmos is really raising the bar and the heat on the relationship front. When Mars returned to your relationship sector on the 19th September it was just 10 days after Mercury had left and after the Sun and Venus had already been through. So the communication lines were already open, you'd already gained the kind of relationship clarity, objectivity and authenticity that only the Sun can create and thanks to Venus you already knew what you wanted from your relationships. This left Mars with a very clear agenda and mandate and in your relationship sector until the 11th November, he'll spend the whole of October evoking your passions and your fighting spirit, anything in order to see you walk the talk and really make things happen on the relationship front. This is all about fighting complacency and fighting for what you want and against what you don't want, getting you to feel, react and respond.


PISCES
It might seem that your personal life has been put on hold this month, as life itself crowds in. While this is a big month on the financial and professional fronts, this in itself doesn't explain why your personal life isn't as assertive as it has been. The reason why things may seem as though they've gone quiet on the personal front this month, is because they have. When Mars left your romantic sector on the 19th September he wrapped up his last visit for another 2 years, but he also brought to an end the planetary activity here for the year. Since mid June the Sun, Mercury and Venus had all moved through, yet while your romantic sector is now empty the planets left you with a clear sense of what you want from love, what you have to work with and thanks to Mars, a lot of romantic passion. Your job is to hold onto this, ensuring that life doesn't become all work and no play. On the relationship front things have also gone quiet, with Mercury's departure from your relationship sector on the 26th September leaving you with no planetary support.
